We had a late start today, in part because of jet lag, but also because the hotel we stayed at, Roseate House, was so comfortable. Located minutes from Hyde Park, the hotel was unique among many we have visited over the years. Original 18th century art, apparently selected by producer of the Antuiqe Road Show, was complemented by authentic decor and truly exceptional service, We stayed there only one night, but if you are ever visiting in Britain, we would certainly recommend it.

We left our luggage at the hotel after we checked out, and took the Tube to the British Museum. We have been there before, but it has such an incredible collection that each time is a new experience.

As an example, the "Tree of Life" shown here, was created by four artists from Mozambique, the Tree of Life was commissioned through a collaboration by Christian Aid, the British Museum and the Christian Council of Mozambique.

This collection of sculptures grew out of a civil war that lasted from 1976 to 1992, a time when millions of guns and weapons poured into the country, most of which remain hidden or buried in the bush. The threat of these weapons led Bishop Dom Dinis to create the "Transforming Arms into Tools" program, supported by Christian Aid.

Through this progam, Mozambicans were encouraged to trade weapons for items like ploughs, bicycles and sewing machines. In once case, a whole village gave up weapons for a tractor.

The Cyrus Cylinder, one of the most famous documents of the Achaemenid Empire, was created in 539 BCE by a Babylonian scribe in cuneiform script.
